Defensive Shooting Fundamentals (LIVE FIRE)

It’s important to recognize the differences between the skills required for defensive shooting and the skills required for being a good marksman on the range. Unlike relaxed exercises on the range, with paper targets at 50 feet, dynamic critical incidents are usually fast, they’re usually close (with nearly 90 percent falling between 9 and 15 feet), and when rounds are fired, it’s usually multiple rounds.

The Legal Use of Force

No responsibly armed person wants to find themselves in a situation where they have to use force to protect themselves or their loved ones, but we all recognize that the possibility exists each and every day. We train in situational awareness and conflict avoidance in order to steer clear of trouble if at all possible, but we also recognize that trouble could find us no matter how hard we work to avoid it. We all have a legal right to use force to defend ourselves if the need should arise, but we must be aware that while using force may help us survive an awful situation, it could also result in serious legal and financial consequences if we haven’t followed the rules. This 1 hour discussion based class examines the legal use of force and will give you a much deeper understanding of how a self defense case will be evaluated. This is extremely important information for anyone who has taken responsibility for their own protection and that of their loved ones.

Topics Include:

  • Reasonable Force

  • Deadly Force

  • The Use of Force Continuum

  • How Will a Prosecutor Evaluate Your Case

  • Defense of the Home

  • Defense of Property

Defensive Shooting Fundamentals

It’s important to recognize the differences between the skills required for defensive shooting and the skills required for being a good marksman on the range. Unlike relaxed exercises on the range, with paper targets at 50 feet, dynamic critical incidents are usually fast, they’re usually close (with nearly 90 percent falling between 9 and 15 feet), and when rounds are fired, it’s usually multiple rounds. This short (1 hour), Non live-fire, discussion based class is designed to introduce you to the fundamental aspects and principles of defensive shooting. A firearm is not a magic talisman, and using one to effectively solve a defensive problem takes knowledge and training! This class is based on the Concealed Carry and Home Defense Curriculum from the United States Concealed Carry association and taught by Adam Williams, a USCCA Certified Instructor.
